eGroupTELL ME MORE ABOUT STARTING MY OWN GROUP:
What is the benefit of starting my own eGroup?
The merit of enabling others to do a mitzvah is greater than the merit of doing a mitzvah yourself.
Running an E-group takes this concept to a new level. When you work together with a group of people who will in turn inspire other people to do mitzvos, you have become a catalyst for Torah and Mitzvos - WHAT A ZECHUS!
In addition, working with friends and acquaintances, increases your drive and enthusiasm. Knowing each other allows you to encourage each of your members in a more effective and personalized manner .
But I am not a Kiruv expert, how could I tell others what to do?
No need to worry!
Each E-group is assigned a kiruv expert who will be available for any questions and provide personal guidance to you as you motivate the members of your group to: 1) Remember to reach out 2) Share their outreach experiences with the group. By encouraging them to do these 2 simple acts, you will create tremendous Kiddush Hashem.
OK, so what do I do now?
A group leader should:
- Identify - Think of a group of 6 - 15 people who are interested in committing to being more active in outreach. Based on the members you have in mind, create a strategy for your group that defines a realistic and successful level of activity.
- Contact - Call or email the identified members, introduce them to the idea of joining an eGroup. Explain the method of your group with the goals of:
- Being more involved in outreach and outreach projects consistently
- Sharing their experiences with the group via email each week
- Begin - Now you are ready to begin. Click on the link below. You will be asked to submit the names of your members and will then be assigned an eCoach. You will receive an activity digest via email that your members will use to submit their entries.
- Manage - If someone does not email into the group initially, send them a personal email stressing the importance of their email to the group and offering to help in any way. It may be that their submission has not gone through due to technical difficulties. Maintain contact with your members to ensure that they are active based on your group strategy. A goal to have in mind is to keep your group active for 3 months as that will make outreach routine.
At that point the leader should evaluate how the members can: bring more people into the group, lead their own groups, or get involved in other leadership activities.
Of course, if, at any time, someone wants to bring another person into the group that the leader feels is committed to outreach that is great.
