eGroupTELL ME MORE ABOUT JOINING AN E-GROUP:
- It only takes a moment to reach out – the impact can be enormous ! Let's put our "moment" to good use and help Am Yisroel at the same time!
- It does not mean that you have to know how to answer people's philosophical questions - just care!
- It does not mean that you have to turn them frum tomorrow – just being a role model and a "mentch" can open them up to Yiddiskeit.
It can be as simple as calling an unaffiliated relative, asking them what's going on in their lives, telling them how much you appreciate them and would like to keep more in touch.* The ikar of kiruv is developing a caring relationship: "oheiv es habrius u'm'karvam l'Torah" – the first step is to love and care.
Other examples of what people have done for their weekly kiruv activity are:
- Going out for coffee
- Inviting for a meal over Shabbos or during the week
- Sending an aish.com video or interesting article
- Calling Erev Shabbos to wish them a good Shabbos and see how they're doing
- Speaking to someone at work, on the bus, in a store
- Speaking to a doctor, dentist, lawyer accountant, etc…
At the same time, outreach can make a massive difference if it's consistent. The great success of these groups is that they remind & encourage their members to consistently reach out. The more immersed one is in sharing outreach ideas, the more they will become aware and take advantage of the numerous opportunities that they encounter.
The e-mail interactions give the whole group chizuk, showing each other that reaching out can be done by others and by you!
